Acknowledgement of our gift from the endowment fund to the DOC has finally been received in the form of a letter from Andy Harvard, the CEO, to president Ted Safford. The letter stated, in part: "Thank you for providing our talented students with rich opportunities that will last throughout their lives. Your commitment and generosity to the College and our students is invaluable."

Department of Clarification: With regard to endowment fund gifts, these may be made only from interest. Gifts from the capital portion of the fund require consultation with and approval of the College.

Travel with adult children: Nan and I took two major trips this year. We spent the last two weeks in April in Paris visiting old friends and reacquainting ourselves with this remarkable city. Our daughter Kathy, a seasoned traveler, was a great help in organizing the trip, guiding us through security, finding our way in busy airports and generally being helpful. In July we took a trip with our son and his wife, also experienced travelers, to Jackson Hole, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We had a wonderful time that would not have been possible without the help of our children. No doubt this is familiar to many of you but it was our first experience and we hope to repeat it.

Since this is the Nov/Dec issue of the DAM may I wish all of you a happy holiday season and a safe and sane new year. Make a New Year's resolution to send me information for this column of interest to your classmates!
