Married in August was Dave Howard. Dave married Nancy Person, his "hometown honey," and was attended by JohnIdzik (who married Carol Osenga in October and had Dave as his best man). Dave graduated from Fordham Law School in May, cum laude, and with the distinction of having been managing editor of the Law Review. Following his wedding, Dave began a job with the New York law firm of Davis, Polk, and Wordwell. He will work there until February at which time he will begin a clerkship with a federal judge in the second circuit.
Still in law school is Lisa Rothenberg, who is presently a second-year student at Harvard. Lisa spent the summer working in a Legal Services Elderly Unit, protecting the older people's Medicaid. Lisa has had a continuing interest in this area; last year she worked as an administrative assistant at a geriatric mental health clinic at the University of California-San Francisco. This year, during her second year of law school at Harvard, Lisa will be working as editor of the Civil Rights Civil Liberties Law Review, and she also will be teaching local high school kids their legal rights through the new Harvard Law School Children's Rights Project "Street Law" group. Lisa plans to work in a health law practice for a few years and then to get a Ph.D. in anthropology.
Mike Fowler is also at Harvard Law School, in his third year. Mike has already written and published two books: Winston Churchill - Philosopher and Statesman, which was published by the University Press of America in June 1985, and a second book, on human rights, which is being published presently. Mike (during his spare time) is currently writing his
third book, on Latin America. Max Kleimann is another '82 author. He has written a chapter in the New YorkTimes guide to New York neighborhoods.
Robert Morris wrote to me with the info about Mike Fowler, and in his note he also included that Larry Hui is in his final year at the University of Chicago Law School after spending this past summer at a law firm in NYC.
Other scholarly '82s include Brad Carpenter, who is in his third and final year of architecture school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Brad received an American Institute of Architects Scholarship for the current academic year. Congrats, and the best of luck to you, Brad!
Parish Vaish is attending Harvard Business School (with how many other '82s?) after working for McKinsey and Company (management consultants) in Los Angeles this past summer. Arthur Karageorges sends news of Ron Mclntyre, who is finishing up his law school career at UCLA. Art is working inside sales at Aavid Engineering, Inc., in Belmont, N.H., and is considering business school.
The prize for a unique way to spend the second year of business school goes, without a doubt, to Scott Simmons. After working for Tropicana (it's all natural!) in Florida, Scott is now finishing his B-School studies down under. New York University Business School is now in the outback of Australia/it seems! I received this news of Scott from Steve Lichtenauer, who finished up his tenure with Kollmorgen Corporation in New York City and is now attending Columbia Business School.
Philip Perry writes that after finishing up at Dartmouth at the end of summer term 1983, he spent a year throwing bags on planes for Brockway Air, a commuter airline based in Burlington, Vt. Philip is currently working as a sales rep (in Boston) for Quebecair, the airline of Quebec province.
Lawrence Wright is presently in Haiti for a two-year Peace Corps stint. DaveTurino is in real estate with Cross and Brown in NYC, and Missy Cook is keeping the wealthy wealthy by working with real estate tax shelters here in the city. Her roommate, Dana Kurtz, has taken over the family business, manufacturing boys' shirts, and is reveling in her managerial duties.
Happy, Happy Holidays! Em.
Carolyn Wilcox '82, an associate in PaineWebber's money market finance group, married Mark Galiette, Middlebury College '78, in August. Several members of'82, '83, and 'B4 joined in the celebration.
