Our 20th Reunion is fast approaching and, judging from early returns, it appears that the affair will draw twice as many classmates as our 15th Reunion. If you have not already signed up, do so now - there's still time. All you need do is contact George Southwick, reunion chairman, at Arthur Young & Co., 1 Boston Place, Boston, Mass. 02102.
Two quick notes on class business:
In the next class newsletter, Dave Cook will list the slate of new proposed candidates for the class executive committee. The five-man nominating committee, consisting of EdMatthews, Dave Orr, Dick Canton, Dave Cook, and Joe Stevenson, reports that the candidates voted onto the executive committee by the Class will serve for six years, through June, 1982. Once you select the new committee members, the entire executive committee, 40 strong, will elect the new class officers.
Looking ahead to the class meeting in Hanover during reunion weekend, Dave Cook welcomes any points of view you may wish to elaborate on regarding the Class's policies and affairs. Just drop a note to Dave at 24 Fair Oaks Park, Needham, Mass. 02192.
At the recent Dartmouth Glee Club concert hosted by the Dartmouth Club of New York, we ran into Joel Mitchell, who has just been appointed director of marketing for BMY Publications in New York. Joel's new firm publishes four trade books: "Convenience Store News," "Radio & Television Weekly," "Smokeshop Magazine," and "U.S. Tobacco Journal." Joel is also a principal in a candy business headquartered in Jamaica.
Burton Foster is the owner of a Newton, Mass., life insurance agency which has been in operation since 1963. Burt's wife Beverly is in her senior year at Wellesley College. She was admitted as a sophomore and has been on a fulltime, three courses a semester basis, ever since. Bev plans to enter law school upon graduation. The Fosters and their three children live in Weston, Mass. They are building a vacation home at Quechee Lakes, which will serve as a base lodge for their frequent skiing excursions.
For the past two years, Bob Grey has been with the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, Australia. Bob says he is "enjoying Australia thoroughly." You can write Bob (R. T. Grey) at: APO San Francisco 96404.
Our peripatetic conductor, Erich Kunzel, was recently a guest conductor once again with the Boston Pops Orchestra. This time the concert was held in Royal Albert Hall in London. Erich has made a big hit with Pops audiences in Boston and obviously wowed them in London the audience gave him four encores. Rumor has it that Erich is a possible successor to Arthur Fiedler, who is now in his eighties.
We are sorry to report that Dr. Tom Hall and family will not be able to join us in Hanover on June 18-20. Tom recently was involved in a serious skiing mishap and suffered extensive injuries which will keep him out of commission for several months. Get well soon, Tom - we'll miss you.
One more request for you photographers: we need 35mm color slides taken by you or by friends during our years in Hanover. Anything and everything goes, and the more the merrier. We'll project the slides in the class tent during our 20th. Just put your name and address on the slides and mail them to me at the above address. I'll take good care of them and return them to you after Reunion.
