As regional activities progress in the Capital Gifts Campaign several classmates in New York's metropolitan area are working with diligence and distinction for Dartmouth. In northern New Jersey, Jack Dodd is chairman of the campaign for Essex county where 500 good Dartmouth men live. Similarly in the Essex area, Harry Bruckner gives his able assistance as a division chairman. Stan Miner, another of our loyal Jerseyites, is chairman of the area including Bergen-Passaic counties. Over in New York, Rog Eastman as a division chairman is leading a group in the central Westchester area. Let's have an Indian Yell for these Twoters and make them hear it!
The College's current roster of alumni officers shows many Twoters around the world loyally serving in alumni club activities. Don Donavanik in Bangkok, our dean of Dartmouth men in Siam (dates one, doesn't it?), is president of the Dartmouth Club of Thailand. Modie Spiegel is president of the vigorous Alumni Association of Chicago. In Wellesley, Dick Litchfield, honored by the College as Club Officer of the year, is secretary of the energetic Charles River Club which Dick has developed over the years. Hal Clark is secretary of the Holyoke club. Wally Mountcastle similarly serves the Greater Miami club and Russ Putney does likewise in Keene. And Frank Hutchins in Hanover serves on the advisory board of undoubtedly your favorite periodical, this ALUMNI MAGAZINE. How about a Wah-Hoo-Wah for all of them!
More honor for the clan in the North country - our Dr. Dick Wood, Director of the Vermont Historical Society, has been chosen chairman of the governor's committee for the Civil War Centennial. Dick is also on the committee for the 100th birthday of the Vermont State House which (pardon your scribe's opinionated reporting) is un-surpassed in beauty and historic interest.
All of us will sadly appreciate an excerpt of a letter received from Edith, wife of our departed Cecil Goldbeck: "I am especially touched by the card telling of the Class Memorial Gift to the Library - nothing could be more appropriate and thank you one and all. I shall always be interested in Dartmouth and the Class of '22."
Despite toothaches and toupees we Twoters are still quite a young clan. Believe it or not - young enough to have twelve sons currently attending Dartmouth. We have four freshmen, three sophomores, one junior, three seniors and one post grad. Our pea green freshmen and their parents are: Charles F. Henderson - Larry and Mary Alice; Alden James Jr. — Jim and Barbara; John E. Mann - Bill and Betty; Joseph F. Sackett - our Dr. George. The gay young sophomores are: Louis B. Fauver - King and Annie; Anthony H. Horan - Frank and Betty; David W. Zuckerman - our departed Harvie and Mary. Our only junior is Harry Bruckner Jr. - Harry and Margaret. And we proudly claim three grand old seniors: John R. Horan - Frank and Betty; Robert G. Sands - Walt and Doris; Thomas C. Waterman - Sterry and Frances. Our post grad John F. Blunt '58 — Jack and Barbara - is working for his master's in the Tuck-Thayer program. The clan is naturally proud of its sons and their parents. May their joys be many and their heartaches zero.
Among pre-Christmas pleasures were chance meetings ith two of the prominent A's in our clan - Jack Aborn in Providence and Elmer Ardiff in Boston, both in fine fettle, hale and happy.
All Twoters including, of course, wives and families now hear this: Our annual little reunion this" year will be in Hanover as usual but at much more favorable dates - April 24, 25, 26. Previously held in March, when Hanover weather could occasionally be capricious, this year - thanks to Carroll Dwight - arrangements for the get-together have been made with the Hanover Inn for the new dates - the last weekend in April. That means Hanover in the springtime. If you want to know how relaxing such an occasion can be and how welcome any Tvoter is, ask any classmate who has been back to Hanover for one of these completely do as you please, informal little reunions. Mark your calendar now for April 24, 25, 26 and while you're at it send your reservations to the Hanover Inn.
