No hors d'oeuvres with our class notes thismonth. The MAGAZINE needs space for thelongest list of Alumni Fund contributors everprinted by Dartmouth or any other college.
Twoters can be proud of our participationin the 1956 Fund. Through the efforts of JackDodd and 50 additional class agents, '22 substantially surpassed its past accomplishments. The job represented excellent planning, goodorganization and plain hard work for ourcommon cause and sole beneficiary — the College. The class thanks everyone who joinedthe crusade in *56. As for 1957, if your nameis on the current list of contributors, '22 willneed you again in '57 and it is hoped everyTwoter will be on our contributors' list nextyear.
Now just a few nuggets of news - Jack and Lanie Aborn have a brand new first grandchild, the daughter of elder son John Aborn and wife Beverly. John was a member of the class of '52 at Dartmouth and received his degree from the University of Rhode Island in '54. The new parents live in Spokane where John is assistant to a division manager in a large department store. Younger son, Foster Aborn, was graduated from Dartmouth last June and is now working for his M.B.A. at Tuck School.
Nancy Katherine, daughter of Jack andFran Dodd, was married to Edwin A. Horst at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Orange on October 6. Nancy's sister, Mrs. George A. Holden, was the matron of honor. Mrs. Horst is an alumna of Wheelock College and her husband, of Amherst, Mass., is an alumnus of Amherst.
Bob and Grace Clark welcome Miss Helen Conrath Smith as the fiancee of their son Alexander Meeker Clark '55. The engagement was announced by Helen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Smith of Albany and Quaker Hill, Pawling. Helen is an alumna of Emma Willard School, Troy, and of Colby Junior College. Alex is presently serving with the Army at Fort Myer, Va.
Headed by Mayor Will Nicholson of Denver, the American Legion's National Security Commission at Indianapolis has urged that the United States enter into no agreement to stop hydrogen bomb tests. That's our Nick.
Wah Hoo Wah for the parents! Bill and Jean Rex, parents of captain Bob, and Bob and Lois Booth, parents of tackle Tom, are four members of our class experiencing every block and tackle in all Dartmouth football games. In spite of their tender years, the rightfully proud parents have come through the first half of the season remarkably well but it has not been easy. The class shares their delight in every accomplishment of their splendid sons. Win, lose, or tie, this is a football team with genuine old-fashioned Dartmouth spirit and '22 is uniquely proud of our class sons, Bob Rex and Tom Booth.
Many Twoters have been at the games each Saturday. Our lists are obviously incomplete because apparently in large crowds we all still look normal but those recognized at various games include: at Brown — Jack and Lanie Aborn with son Foster, Elmer and Frances Ardiff, Bob and Lois Booth, Bill and Odie Lee Bullen, Bill and Jean Rex, Len and Margaret Morrissey; at Holy Cross - Mike and Laura Adams, Bob and Lois Booth, Harry and Peg Bruckner with son Harry Jr. and daughter Barbara, Bill and Odie Lee Bullen, Frank and Dorothy Hutchins, Bill and Jean Rex, Len and Margaret Morrissey; Harvard — of all parties held by many classes at this game none enjoyed themselves more than the large group of Twoters who accepted the Bullens' delightful hospitality for pre-game punch and lunch; and many old friends were there. Additional Twoters reported at the Harvard game were Mike and Laura Adams, Al and Horti Crampton, Egon and Dorothy Kattwinkle, Ray and Mary Louise Rambach, and Bud and Barbara Winkler. Apologies to any we missed — bifocals play tricks you know.
Merry Christmas to all the clan including, of course, wives, children, grandchildren, inlaws, fiances and fiancees - "May your days be merry and bright."
And for "The loyal sons who love her" read on.
