Richard Paul and wife have been for eight weeks with old friends at Jasper Park Lodge in Alberta, this being their eighteenth season there. We regret that his photograph, published in this issue, could not have been m the reunion edition, but it will be appreciated by classmates and a wide acquaintance.
One fine day this summer was devoted to a trip to West Townsend, Mass., where Dr.Richard Ely has cared for their sick for half a century. Both Dick and wife are well and happy, and Dick can still relieve an ailing native if occasion demands. He is the Medical Inspector in the local schools and enjoys the work with the children.
Wendell and Sylvia Williams passed a long summer vacation at Osterville on Cape Cod. Wendell has been enjoying the baseball games there with the same interest as when he played third base in college.
Our Pattee has been seriously ill this summer in the Sanitarium at Orlando, Fla., but is reported as improved and returned to his home in Winter Park. He has disposed of his choice personal library, and from The Headlight, a bulletin published by the library of Pennsylvania State College, we quote concerning this gift;
"One of the finest collections of books in the Penn State College Library is that donated by Dr. Fred Lewis Pattee, Professor Emeritus of English Literature. His rare volumes, magazines and manuscripts represent a lifetime of collecting, and constitute an enduring foundation for future studies in this field."
Dr. Pattee divided his library between the two colleges where he taught longest. For 34 years he was at Penn State, serving as head of the English Department, Professor of American Literature and College Chaplain. Since he retired in 1928 he has lived in Florida and taught in Rollins College. Penn State has the books especially useful in graduate study, while Rollins received books suitable to undergraduate assignment.
