Dr. Andy Ruoff writes that he lost wife Helen in January 2007 after a lengthy illness. He still lives at Turtle Creek Golf Club—19149 S.E. Sea Turtle Court, A-102, Tequesta, FL 33469; (561) 747-1783—and plays golf several times a week. Andy is retired but is still editorial consultant to two journals and attends a few medical meetings. The widow of a late close friend and Andy have found that they are "completely compatible" and have enjoyed traveling together to Utah, California, Oregon, Colorado and Peru, on a trip around South America and cruises to Alaska and from Rome to Florida. They hope to make our 70th October 2 to 4.

A personal anecdote. On election day I was ensconced in the emergency section of Dartmouth-HitchcockMedical Center, having earlier been diagnosed with pneumonia. Bemoaning the loss of my chance to vote, I had not reckoned on the resourcefulness of my wife, Evelyn. After voting herself she asked the person overseeing the poll if a ballot could be delivered to me at the hospital. Much to my delight and the amusement of the medical staff, she reappeared at the ER accompanied by a Hanover police officer bearing a ballot. So I voted after all and was discharged from the hospital four days later.
