Who won the college scholarship on the summer CBS reality show, TheScholar? I am rooting for Scot Parsley, a home-schooled young man and a member of the Dartmouth class of 2009. I had the pleasure of interviewing Scot back in February and wondered if we were ever as bright and smart as these top kids today? I cling to hope. My daughter met Michael Rafter when he was in central Pennsylvania and talked with her local youth ballet. Michael won an Emmy for music direction for Gypsy and has guest conducted the Memphis Symphony and the Tulsa Philharmonic. He is currently involved with the production of SweetCharity on Broadway, where he most recently was musical director and conductor for ThoroughlyModern Millie. He is married to Jeanine Tesori, a musical arranger and composer, and has a daughter, Siena. Rick Bercuvitz reports that at long last, he is married. Rick and Shira Gilbert were married in Montreal in June 2004. Classmates in attendance included Bob Bauer, Rich Nadworny, Mark Cruce, Brian Tompkins, Eric Richardson and Karin Rothwell. A pre-wedding event was also attended by Joanne McMullen and George Hunting- ton. Rick and Shira became parents last October, welcoming Isaac Tani into this world. Rick is working as C.O.O. of a medical software company and changes diapers in his spare time. Bill Lipfert was married to Jenny Stockman Memorial Day weekend in Cornish, New Hampshire, in a marvelous event that included a canoe trip down the Connecticut. In attendance were Gina Blus, Cathy Green Solomon, Yusuk Chang, Betsy Ham and Warren Whitney, Scrib Fauver and Mary Conway (the source of this great news). Google-ing a volleyball teammates name yielded this gem: Brad Fanestil lives and practices internal medicine in Boulder, Colorado. Brad married Mimi Ward 'B5 and they have three kids. Brad reports that Ron Mclntire is in Manhattan Beach, California, with a wife, three daughters and a law career. Jane Brass Barth writes from Corvalis, Oregon, that her husband is taking a sabbatical from OSU and her family will be living at their ski cabin in Bend while he writes a textbook on coastal oceanography. Jane will continue to work very part-time as a community development/leadership trainer. But her real plan is to, for the first time since the Dartmouth Skiway, buy a seasons pass and get her 4-year-old son on the slopes! Peter Saltsman, a fellow rox major, connected with me to chat about teaching. Peter, an environmental consultant, is thinking about a career change and is investigating a number of avenues, including secondary school teaching. We remembered our shared experiences, especially our off-campus geology program that ended in Central America, and he reminded me of the time I used my LSASpanish to talk our way out of a roadside search by Sandinista guerillas. Peter lives in Massachusetts with wife Erin and daughters Hanako and Adelaide. Peter recently met with Randy Gordon, who was in Boston for work. Randy and Peter spent LSA in Blois, France, along with Sam Carlson, Peter Folger, Herb Boynton. Randy and Peter and their growing families live outside Washington, D.C., where Sam used to live until he and his family recently moved to the Dominican Republic for the World Bank. Peter thinks we should all go visit Sam, really, because he probably needs more friends down there to take to the beaches. Following that, we embark on a world tour, dropping in on Dave Plekenpol outside Shanghai and Davin Mackenzie somewhere in mainland China. Send us your news!
