Lame Duck. It is mid-April. By the time you read this our tenth reunion will be history; my five-year reign at this post will also be history. Thanks to those of you who wrote. The rest may redeem yourselves with one information-laden postcard directed to the new secretary sometime in the next five years. Has salvation ever been so obtainable?
Folks clearly are saving their pearls for the reunion tents. Here is the last news out of the hopper. Richard and Liz (Epstein) Kadin are the proud parents of Allison Sydney, who was born last March at seven pounds and ten ounces. Phil and Gretchen (Heller) Farmer have also added to their clan. Mallory Martin made the scene this past January.
Another new face at the reunion belongs to Bruce Gordon. Bruce and Edy Ullman, both fire chiefs in the state of California's forest fighting forces, had a wedding in 2May in California.
On the East Coast, Eric Donnenfeld last February was named surgeon director of the Long Island Eye Bank. Most recently Eric had been the resident instructor at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.
Evy Chan has been a great source of information over the years. Unfortunately, her latest epistle was so well placed that it was misplaced. A phone call revealed a few tidbits of information. Jon Bagger, who has his Ph.D. from Princeton, is currently teaching physics to the undergraduates at Harvard. Dan Lucey is doctoring in some capacity at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Marion McLure Cartwright and her husband, Gene, are the proud parents of three boys and live not far from Evy in Lake Bluff, Ill. Lastly, Evy revealed a wild story about Barbara Esposito Stone making an appearance on the David Letterman Show because of a particularly interesting misadventure which she experienced in New York City. It sounded outlandish; perhaps the details surfaced at reunions.
The final bit of news concerns the sighting of a classmate in the Boston Marathon this afternoon. Obviously Jim Truncellito took seriously the admonition to get into shape for the reunion athletic events. Trunce looked strong at the 13 mile marker and thus is favored for a strong show in the 10K on the Sunday morning of reunions.
That's it. Adieu, noka, so long. Have a good summer.
