What disease have the 'Bss been afflicted with lately? I have been hearing some disturbing things that sound vaguely like we may be growing up. MARRIAGE? GRADUATE SCHOOL? BABIES? PROPERTY OWNERSHIP? Is there a cure for this disease?

We have had our first few class babies. That is scary enough. But now, John Palmer and Andy Ford have given birth to a townhouse without the benefit of marriage. How adult. How 'Bos. The proud parents are now co-owners of a three-story house in Arlington, Va. Who will get the house after the break-up?

Also having sunken far into the depths of debt is Chemical Bank whiz kid Beth Gilman with a one-bedroom apartment in midtown Manhattan. Beth is still recovering from her role as maid-of-honor/commander-in-chief in Amy Durno and PeterHarned's wedding.

Jenny Page and Grant McCargo UVM '84 have caught the marriage bug. I am still in deep, deep, deep shock. This is my freshman roommate! The two are leaving San Francisco soon to find jobs in Telluride, Colo., and plan to take their vows halfway up the mountain on April 9, in a lodge Jenny says reminds her of Moosilauke. This is very Jenny-like. And speaking of freshman roommates, my other one, Tina Rutan, was rumored to be hiding an office romance from her employer, a Providence computer firm. She left the job, kept the man, and is now working for Wang in Lowell, Mass.

Also acting adult are Pam Lower and Barry Bass, who, while in the midst of a romantic weekend in San Francisco, decided to love, honor, and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. I think the marriage disease is particularly infecting members of Alpha Chi. Maybe it was something in those old red walls in the basementsort of like asbestos?

After six months of gallivanting around the world, Jill Morgan has returned to D.C. and the law firm of Wilmer Cutler and Pickering, which houses Dartmouth grads while they try to make the adjustment to the real world. Julie Mazman will be back some time in 1988, after visiting many exotic ports of call and experiencing a trek through the Himalayas. She'll need a job, so keep your ears and eyes open.

Emily Saltzman, now at Columbia School of International Affairs, stopped by to visit Ted Pascal while she was in his neighborhood this summer. Ted, unfortunately, was out for the day, so Emily left him a note, "Ted, was in Africa. Stopped b.y to say hi. Emily." (Not a direct quote.) Ted, who is with the Peace Corps doing good deeds for the world, is currently living in a hut, complete with Dartmouth paraphernalia, in Senegal. Bet he was surprised when he returned from whatever it was he had been doing. Anyone who ever lived in the River Cluster and got a note on their door can relate.

While I was in Charlottesville, Va., recently I did not see either Cherie Dibbell or Scott Mellon. Both supposedly are there, the former studying law, the latter studying business. I saw 'B4s and '86s, but alas, no '85s. Mike Smith was also there visiting, but I didn't see him either and have no idea whether or not he saw Cherie or Scott. Mike is moving from D.C. to New York soon for another job with"the government," this time the Commerce Department.

Barbara Codding got a little frightened watching the movie Fatal Attraction, which was filmed in her (and my) hometown. So, Barb decided to leave home and head for a safer place, NYC, where she found refuge at NYU Business School and is now living with her old Dartmouth roommate, accountant JoAnn Shannon.

Congratulations to Lauren Sonstrom and Andy Ford, who are taking the mid-Atlantic region Bud Light triathlon circuit by storm! They raced together in Bethany Beach, Del., and Charlottesville, Va. Lauren placed third in her age group and is a Delaware state champion! I also heard that Jackie Miller is a triathlon star in Houston. I feel like a lazy piece of lard. I've got to cut this short so I can go exercise.

Hey, happy holidays!
