With this issue your secretary is beginning what he hopes to be a series of updates for us all on the current activities of class officers and executive committee members. As I receive information I'll pass it along in no particular order or format. Just some news as I hear it.

Bob McLellan -was elected to our executive committee at our 40th Reunion. He served as reunion treasurer and registrar and obviously had very much to do with the tremendous success which the event turned out to be. Some of his know-how came from serving on the 35th Reunion committee and, just perhaps, more than a little from his expertise as second vice president and assistant treasurer of New England Mutual Life Insurance Co. Bob says New England Life is 140 years old. He went to work in the home office a few years after the founding and plans to stay until sixty-five. Bob and Lois live at 172 Edgewater Drive in Needham, Mass. They have three married children and three grandchildren and enjoy bowling, golf, bridge, walking and gardening. This spring they look forward to a tour of Great Britain. Retirement, still a few years away, is planned to be on Cape Cod and "an entirely different type of life."

Bob Boehm is now in his second term as an executive committee member, representing the New York City area. Bob and Fran live at One Willow Lane in Hewlett Harbor, N.Y. He practices law at his office at 500 Fifth Ave. He's a member of the New York City Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, of the New York County Lawyers' Association and of the Bar Association of the City of New York. But just scan this list to get acquainted with a guy dedicated to community service! "Volunteer attorney on staff of Center for Constitutional Rights in New York City; member of board of directors of National Scholarship Service & Fund for Negro Students; vice president of Five Towns Community Center; president, Five Towns Forum; member, United Choral Society; and member of board of directors and executive committee of the Fund for New Priorities in America." With all this spare time activity Bob still reports interest in favorite sports of skiing and tennis.

And now for an update on a third executive committee member, Jack Au Werter. We hardly need to recount the deeds of our record breaking class agent which are known to you all! Jack and Eleanor live at 2350 Delamere Drive in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He is a manufacturers' agent with'an office at 13212 Shaker Square in Cleveland selling steel wire, aluminum wire, machined parts, and, occasionally, machinery. To quote him, "I still think earned income is a great commodity, as well as necessary, and Eleanor says working keeps me out of the house." The Au Werters have just had the happy news of the birth of a third grandchild, Sarah Schlesinger, born to daughter Kate. Last fall Jack and Eleanor visited in Sea Island, Ga., with Swanee Dawson and his wife Waltraut who have, it is believed, the youngest child in our Class. Swanee recently had a successful heart operation including installation, if that's the word, of a pacemaker in his chest. Jack says Swanee now has probably the most regular heart beat in the Class! Also, in January, Jack reports he joined Dan Swander for some fine skiing in Ellicottville, N. Y.

A card from Bob Smith relates that he and Gertie have sold their house in Darien and have moved to a condominium at Hathaway Common in New Canaan. They also have bought a place in Vero Beach, Fla., and look forward to spending more time there and in Vermont. Bob continues as a marketing consultant with an office in New York with Arthur H. Lee and Jofa of which classmate Derek Lee is president.

At a time he says most classmates are retiring, George Hoke has announced the formation of a new law firm of Hoke, Roehrdanz, Bigelow & Chamberlain, Ltd. in Minneapolis. George notes the average age of the members of his group is 41.

I must reluctantly report the death on December 21, 1975 of Bob Williams in Billings, Mont. The obituary section of this issue tells a little more about his life.

A brief note from Sara discloses that Ed Ramsey is president of the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. Ed was on the Bob Hope Desert Classic Board for the golf tournament early in February. Did you see Ed on TV?

Bill Eisendrath is still "punching cattle 40 miles southeast of Denver." He writes that he has a predominantly Angus breed herd but this year used a Hereford bull on one fourth of his cows. (Does this prove variety is the spice of life?) Bill's two boys, Tom and Phil, now 12 and 10, are members in 4-H, and keep their parents busy attending and transporting to activities.

Sy Millstein spent the holidays at Sanibel Island where he visited with Ted O'Brien who lives in Naples. Sy says he's still commuting to Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong and Seoul. Missed our '75 reunions because of having to be in Hong Kong but hopes to be in Hanover in September.

That fall reunion date, incidentally, is the weekend of September 25. Much more later!

Right now we're looking ahead to the Alumni Fund campaign. Head Agent Al Dodd has lined up his assistants for the essential work of contacting us all. Let's make the job easier for them with prompt support of this vital program in the life of Dartmouth College.
