We have recently learned that a Dartmouth varsity team will visit the West Coast early in 1972. Our basketball team will play Stanford in Palo Alto during the holidays. It is too early to guess what we may have in the way of a gathering, but there will be one and we hope it will encourage future visits of teams from Hanover. As noted recently, we did have Jake Crouthamel '60 as our speaker on March 10 and 75 gathered to hear him and our co-speaker, Gregory Prince, of the Summer Program at our college. We all wish the best to next fall's team.
Our annual meeting on April 26 was held at the Marine's Memorial. After a fine steak dinner our new slate of officers was presented, and to no one's surprise, unanimously elected. Our President is TomHannan '60 who also served in that capacity last year. Vice presidents are four in number, Mike Biggs '54, Don Black'60, Charlie Hoeveler '67 and DerekKnudsen '65. We are looking to this group for our plans and parties, including the promotion of the events. The secretary-treasurer and assistant secretary-treasurer remain the same, Carl Ward '32 and BobAllen '33, respectively. One other active alumnus, ex-officio on the executive coinmittee, is Dick Gale '60, who thinks up and runs our unusual outings under the title of Director of Outrageous Events. A most interesting trip up the center of the California Redwood Country was the last one, taking place on March 6-7 with about 30 in attendance. Coming up is a one-day picnic at Kirby Cove, just over the Golden Gate Bridge in the edge of Marin County on May 15.
Bill Long '59 has been given the task of settine up plans for the third Alumni seminar in California to take place after labor Day to include alumni in both Northern and Southern groups. The last two have been well attended and very soul-Larching from all reports. These were held near Yosemite Valley at the Wawona Hotel. As soon as plans develope there will be invitations to all.
Weekly luncheons continue at the Iron Horse on Maiden Lane on Wednesdays with attendance off a bit. We have a few ideas to try out for a more formalized type of luncheon, with speakers perhaps and more publicity. All vacationing or travelling alumni are cordially welcomed.
