Brevity has been referred to as a blessing and I'm sure inclined to go along with the saying!! The month before last I missed a column and a few days after the MAGAZINE hit the streets Bill Thornton sent me a giltedged engraved card telling me how much he enjoyed February's column. My tonguein-cheek friend got his message across thanks, old buddy.

It is 'tween-time in New England, hockey and basketball seasons are drawing to an end. Some skiing still exists to the north, however, to the south mud and sloppy weather conditions prevent much in the way of outdoor life. People in this section of the country are waiting for the elusive spring and the return of the Red Sox. The Yippies and Hippies on Boston Common are scratching furiously, so I guess it won't be long before all the animals will be shedding their winter coats.

From the real sunny South where weather is no real problem we hear that good old Borne Patten has been named vice president and general manager of Patten Motor Company. The company represents American Motors as well as Fiat, an Italian-made automobile. Patten Motor Company is also engaged in the auto rental and used car business. Bome and his lovely wife, Mary Jo, live at 3917 Melinda Drive with their son George Jr., and daughter Terry Alice.

Bome, we're proud of your accomplishments and your fine contributions to your fellow men. Keep up the fine work and when I'm in the Chattanooga area I'll take a spin in one of your Fiats.

He has been with Singer since 1963 and spent several years with their overseas divisions in Scotland and England. Wally and his beautiful wife Vivian have two children, Teresa 16, and Michael, 13.

Bob Peters has been named director of development for the Salvation Army's Booth Memorial Hospital in Flushing, Long Island. Bob has been director of the Bureau since July 1966, previously for 14 years served in the Salvation Army's public relations department in various positions in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Bob, you're with a real fine organization and I'm sure your efforts will not go unrewarded.

Now that I have taken care of the problem of placing you in the proper hospitals, I'll have to arrange for the payment situation. Drew Waitley has been promoted to the Board of Directors at the Continental Bank in Chicago.

Yates Eckert has. been named vice president of Fidelity Union Trust Company in Newark, N. J., and Bob Brace has a onestop financial planning package as a result of the recent opening of the Investors Bank and Trust in Boston, Mass. Bob will serve as president and chief executive officer of the bank.

ITT Continental Baking Company, Inc. has announced that Al Davis has been appointed senior associate counsel for the company. Al and his fine family live in Rye, N. Y. Send along a few day-old biscuits, Al - the group is eating me out of house and home.

Now for the medicine man!! Dr. Bob Christie, our goodly pathologist in the Lancaster, N. H., area since 1961, has been named to a five-year term as trustee on the Norwich University Board of Trustees.
