As August dies, Margaret and I are off for Maine for all September; will see the Harringtons, Lamsons, and Bleike Heeds on the way briefly. The Reeds are in lovely Castine—and this is “just across the water” from us in Blue Hill or Stonington (Deer Isle), Today gives me the opening to tell you why no plugs for Bonnie Oaks: both it and everything within 25 miles is (and has been) filled up for the Princeton game . . . much of it since last fall. I’ll have more to say on this subject at Bonnie Oaks when we are in Executive Committee session before the game. (I’ve got my speech all rehearsed, friends.)

Item #2 in this very brief column: It now becomes policy to cut down on copy; and to divert what we can to the Class Letter. That’s fine with me; don’t panic. Butts . . . you’ll get more rather than less help from me.

Item #3: I ran a teaser offering copies of the new birthday card, also unused, fresh copies of the older one, to any who requested either both by mail or at reunion. Box score: no runs, no hits, no errors. So I’ve been using the older card and will continue to do so for another month or two. Then the new one, and it makes a fine pair of Stu Eldredge’s art, will be used. It’s bound to please.

Alumni College this year had only the JimReids and Keith Drake enrolled. Many of you are missing a wonderful and inexpensive holiday in Hanover. Especially miss the Sew Bowers this year.

Incidental chatter: Jim Rutherfords are in Europe and will miss the Princeton game reunion; have to be with their Changri La on Mallorca “until mid-December;” TedLamb is back from two weeks in Cuba; talked with Fidel; Pete and A 1 Wheatley card us from midnight sun tour in Norway,
