At the annual dinner of The Dartmouth Club of Oregon, held March 24 at the Mallory Hotel in Portland, new officers nominated by Cam Richardson '52, chairman of the nominating committee, were elected. The new officers are - President, Sam Martin'27; vice-president, Fred Lockyear '59; and secretary-treasurer, Jim Gilchrist '61.
Outgoing president and new enrollment liaison officer, Bob Conklin '60, reported that 1969 looks like a strong year for the Oregon with 27 completed applications and 9 candidates considered to be outstanding or highly desirable by the interview committees. In making his report, Bob gave special thanks to Jim Gilchrist '61, Jack Crowell '52, and Jay Herdel '59 for their hard work as head of the three interviewing committees.
In considering a matter that hasn't come before the Club for many years, it was unanimously voted to provide $50 to pay for a new Dartmouth Ski Cup which is presented at the annual Dartmouth Cup competition for high school ski teams in Oregon. Ron Honeyman '25 was asked to chair a committee to look into the matter of an alumnus participating in the presentation.
The meeting was capped by a fine presentation by hockey coach Ab Oakes '56 who brought the 25 alumni and wives upto-date on the Hanover Scene - with special emphasis on the future of the athletic program at the College.
