As I start my term as class secretary I want to express both my appreciation and that of the class to John Van Raalte for the very fine job he has done as secretary. His conscientious effort and sincere interest were evident not only in his class news reports but also in the very complete set of records he has passed on to me. One of the more pleasant fringe benefits of the job as secretary was a visit from John and Barbara as they were driving through Maine.

Walt Henry reports he is with F. H. McGraw & Company of Hartford, Conn., and presently is superintendent on construction of an eighteen million dollar State School in Clinton, N. J. Walt is living in Flemington, N. J., and is very enthusiastic about the company which he says "is a very dynamic outfit with lots of talent."

Pete Owen has been elected vice president of finance for Bowmar Instrument Corp., Fort Wayne, Ind. Pete will be responsible for accounting control, administration and coordination of financial functions for all of Bowmar's divisions and subsidiaries which includes divisions in California and England. Pete, Mary, and their son Gregory are living in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Congratulations are in order for WaltBaker who was elected a vice president of the Society for Savings in Hartford, Conn. He will direct a newly created department of planning and business development.

Bob Foster has been promoted by Travelers Insurance Company. Bob, who was an associate actuary, has been named actuary in the actuarial division of the casualtyproperty department. He has been with Travelers since 1949 and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Bob and Sally live at 96 Preston St., Windsor, Conn., and have six children.

Paul Liscord, another Travelers's man, has been named vice president and actuary in the actuarial division of the casualtyproperty department. Paul has been with Travelers since 1948 and was formerly a second vice president. Paul is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and in addition has been doing enrollment work for the college in Connecticut. Paul and Helen have three children and live at 11 Ridgewood Road, Windsor, Conn. It looks as though '48 has a firm foothold in Travelers.

Bill Campbell has joined the Boston brokerage firm of Breck, McNeish & Nagle, Inc. as operations manager. Bill and Jean are living in Cohasset, Mass., with their three children.

A clipping from the "Chicago Tribune" notes that Bob Welch is teaching at Grosse Pointe, Mich. Bob and Susanne live at St. Clair Shores, Mich., and have two sons who if they follow in their father's footsteps ought to be good freshman material about 1976 or so.

Cdr. Eugene Fricke is currently serving as executive officer of the "U.S.S. Dale," a new guided missile frigate with a homeport of San Diego. He recently received the Navy Commendation Medal from the Secretary of the Navy for meritorious service rendered while on the staff of Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet. He lives in Chula Vista, Calif., with wife Betty and son Harvey.

John Boggia is an engineer with Gautheaume & McMullen in Boston, Mass. John and Dorothy have four children and are living in Lexington, Mass.

I had a nice letter from Dick Greene who advised that he and Lynn had a new daughter, Alison, born August 1, 1967. Apparently it was a nip and tuck trip to the hospital in Boston but Alison waited until the appropriate moment. It will be interesting to see if their son Jeffrey, and Alison follow their parents footsteps at Dartmouth and Colby Junior.

Notice has been received of the death of Raymond Evans of Philadelphia, Pa., in June. Surviving are his wife Hazel, two daughters, and a son. A teacher of English at Lebanon Valley College he will be sorely missed by his classmates and friends. Our sincere condolences are extended to his family.

We were very sorry to learn of Al McAllister's death on August 2. Al was well known and well liked and our heartfelt sympathy goes to his wife Pat, and his son and daughter Susan and Bruce.
