Two months ago we mentioned that a town was considering naming their new school for one of our members. We have just received, via airmail special delivery, an inspiring copy of the Wakefield Daily Item dated March 23 from Mr. Eben V. Yeuell, Bob's father. The school committee of that Massachusetts town had voted unanimously the previous night to let the newest school in the community bear the name of Captain Robert V. Yeuell, who was killed in action in Germany in 1944. There were a number of nominations for this honor, which makes it a real one. We shall add nothing to a few selected quotations from letters in the paper: "I watched him become one of the most efficient and popular officers in our battalion, and I saw him rise to the rank he justly deserved" and "He has been a legend in the 29th division since he landed on E) Day. The infantry worshipped him for the superb work he did m supporting them with the artillery. He was constantly in the front lines, observing enemy targets, reassuring the infantry, and always smiling. He was cool, courageous, absolutely fearless under fire." One man wrote, "Bob was the first man in Wakefield to volunteer when the National Guard was mobilized. He lived adjacent to the new school site. We skated on the swamp area at the north end and we roamed the woodland of the area together. I remember him as one of the finest young men I have ever known."

In 1956 Mr. Yeuell established a living memorial to his son with a $25,000 scholarship fund at Dartmouth, income from which is available to a qualifying Wakefield student.

We can clear up a few mysteries with several changes of address. Bud Clifford has moved to 101 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, Calif. Bill Conway has corrected his address to read 7 Overbrook Road, Upper Saddle River, N. J. LinHiggins may be reached at 12 Fernwood Drive Wilbraham, Mass. It sounds as if John McKeever were on the frontier at 6711 South Kit Carson Circle, West, in Littleton, Colo. HankMorton has moved again to 1350 S.W. Roinda Way in Portland, Ore. David Thurlow calls 3500 Pine Ridge Road in Birmingham, Ala, home Fred Underbill, who was missing last month, has been found at Route 2, Sycamore,

The Berkshire Eagle recently ran a big story and picture of our radio eagle DickJackson with the hot scoop that Governor Volpe was naming Dick as the state's representative on the newly created Urban Renewal Authority in Pittsfield. A lesson in community service might well be learned by thinking about Dick's present activities. He is on the boards of the Pittsfield National Bank, the Berkshire Chapter of the American Heart Association, the Berkshire Country Day School, the Family and Children's Service, and Action for Opportunity, a Pitts-field anti-poverty program. That's great, Dick.

Your secretary found himself in Gainesville, Fla., one night in March and tried manfully to phone our George Sims there, but his line was busy all evening. Ever have' that trouble at your house?

Bill Bachman writes that he is still senior vice president in an advertising agency in Detroit. For the first seven weeks of this year he was in Zurich, Switzerland, where the firm has an office, and where he got in a little skiing. Son Bill is at the University of Colorado and son Tom will graduate from Culver this June. Last fall in New York he started negotiations for new office space with AI Tishman, and that smooth salesman stressed that neither had changed a bit! Bill has seen Jack Haverfield and his old roomie, Dick Falck. Bill concluded thoughtfully, "Neither of our sons even applied to Dartmouth although both would have liked to. I appreciate the problems of the college, but it does seem a shame that some pretty solid kids from very loyal Dartmouth families can't get in. This isn't really sour grapes; it's just a little wistful feeling that I think many of us share."

Among other duties Bob Kaiser has assumed since returning to Hanover is ft, faculty advisorship of Psi U. He feels particularly close to the house manager Jot Magee '67, stepson of our own late Wait Magee. Bob reports that John is a fine lad and the Kaiser kids' favorite baby sitter. The Kaisers have become great fans of the undefeated freshman swimming team.

We hear from Bob Achom that he remarried in 1963. Of his four children by his first wife, one son is in the Navy, one son is on the Honor Roll at Claremont College, and two daughters are living in Menlo Park Calif. Bob is regional manager for Morton' Salt in Kansas City. New wife Letitia has three children from former marriage and now they have a two-year-old daughter Julie Ann. Bob considers himself an expert on figuring income tax deductions!

Jack Atwood writes that having unavoidably missed our 25th Reunion, he and Mar garet are celebrating their personal 25th with a jaunt to New Orleans this spring hoping to erase memories of the blizzard of 66 m Wayzata, Minn. "All '39ers here in reasonably good shape," he concludes.

We received a couple of bulletins a photograph of the First Congregational Church in Middletown, N. Y., and a fine letter from Steve Bachelder, the parson up there. A minister these days seems to preside over the kitchen, what with men's breakfasts, chicken luncheons, Girl Scout meetings, and guild suppers! Actually, Steve we're just jealous of all that good chow' and we're very happy to know that you have found your life in the church to be one of great excitement and continuing challenge.

There is a hot political note from Massachusetts this month. Gov. Volpe has asked attorney C. Henry Glovsky of Beverly to run for the Republican nomination for attorney general. Hank is a prominent North Shore lawyer with a wide practice and many friends. He is a former state representative and state senator and served as press aide to former U.N. Ambassador Lodge during the 1960 presidential campaign. To top it off the paper we read said, "Glovsky is a handsome, youthful looking man who handles himself very well and is a favorite with the Yankees and other major segments of the GOP. That should do it! If the best wishes of the Class will help, you know you have them, Hank.

Danny Dyer is a new governor of the Lawrence Hospital, where he has joined several slightly senior Dartmouth grads on the board. While visiting his younger daughter Diana at Skidmore's Happy Pappy Week- end, he chatted briefly with Charlie Thompson and Jack Tread way and their daughters. We appreciate your comments, Dan.

One of our members, who asks to be nameless, feels alone and discouraged because only the successful guys get their names in print. We've all had our ups and downs, and we know the value of kindness. We don't even need to say move over or join the group because, brother, you're already a member. If you've been to Dartmouth, you are not alone.
