Sitting here on my back porch on a warm, windy afternoon, I find it somewhat hard to concentrate. It's a Saturday and the freshman lacrosse team has just come onto Chase Field for one of its first outdoor sessions. It's great to watch these young giants charge up and down the field but I must admit it does not make me long for the old days. I guess I was as energetic once, but it's hard to even remember back that far. As I've said before, watching and associating with these young men either makes you feel terribly old or very young. I'll tell you which feeling is the strongest after I've had a few more years of it, and I guess that's enough for the daily confessions. Now let's see how some of you other young men are doing.

One of us is young enough to get married. Charles Cooper was married to Miss Betsy Ann Lowe in January in New Jersey but will reside in Studio City, Calif., where Charlie is the West Coast sales representative for Carbic-Hoechst Corporation.

Bill Wyeth, one of our insurance tycoons, was recently elected vice president and secretary of the various companies of the Massachusetts Protective Association, Inc. Bill has been a V.P. of the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company, and has now moved up to a top position in the parent organization. It has been a pleasure to work with Bill on his trips to Hanover for recruiting purposes at Tuck. A recent news article mentions Colin Gunn as one of the judges in a recent oratory contest in Bridge-port, Conn. Colin is an attorney who graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law as well as Harvard Business School after he left Hanover.

More news from Connecticut involves Peter Fahey who has been advanced to assistant vice president of the Fairfield County Trust in Norwalk, Conn. Peter went to Rutgers Graduate School of Banking after Dartmouth and served with the Marine Corps in both World War II and the Korean War. He is a computer expert and is the administrative officer of the bank's data processing center. A final note from Connecticut concerns Dick Wagner, president of Wagner Ford in Simsbury, who has been elected a director of the Simsbury Bank and Trust Company. Dick came to Hanover for a few years and then went on to Columbia to graduate.

Enjoyed a pleasant visit with Al Schlosser yesterday when he dropped in at Tuck during a short visit to Hanover. Al and his family were indulging in a bit of quiet rest and relaxation up here in the hills and it was nice to get together with him again after a good many years. He is sales manager for the Peerless Rubber Company where he has been busy building sales over the last few years.

Had a nice card from Dave and JeanWeld from Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico. They sounded great and were obviously enjoying the beach, sun, gin, and golf tremendously, though not necessarily in that order. In spite of their magnificent surroundings, Dave was good enough to mention our last get together in Hanover and says they are eagerly awaiting the next one. A fine newsy letter from Bob Case brings us up-to-date on his activities. Bob is still the manager of plant protection and security at the vast General Electric layout in Schenectady and, in addition, is active in civic, fraternal, and school affairs. The Cases visited Hanover in March though we did not have a chance to get together with them. Bob raved about Hopkins Center as well as the new field house and swimming pool, and added the comment that he never thought he would see Kayak races in an indoor pool. However, this is a growing sport here in Hanover, as well as in many other places, and we have seen some exciting events. Bob wants to make sure that any '46s in the Schenectady area make themselves known - I'm sure the Case hospitality would be great.

That's it for news this month but I must make a parting shot on behalf of the alumni fund. The campaign is well under way and '46 is doing better than ever before. I am sure you know that we have the best opportunity since leaving Hanover to make a mark of real significance and this is the year to do it. As usual, it won't be easy, so we need each and every one of you who has come through in past years plus many who have not been active. Let's make a good showing this year. Really - it's about time.

Best regards from the hills.
