Bill and Kay Andres, Duke and HortieBarto, Eddie and Polly Chinlund, Jack andJerry Gunther, and Squeek and Ret Redding, gathered on the Hanover Plain, Friday 3, for the Annual Class Officers weekend. 19-9 was thus fully represented at the meetings for Class Chairmen, Newsletter editors, Treasurers, Agents, Bequest Chairmen, and Secretaries. The ladies added sparKle and gaiety to the occasion. Cart Strickland was on hand to officiate at the Alumni Award ceremonies as President of the Council. John and Chris Dickey performed the multifarious duties as President and First Lady of the College with their usual aplomb It was a glorious time for all. The weather was well nigh perfect. For those who arrived on the scene early, there were various programs of interest at the new and wonderful Hopkins Center. There was the noise and confusion of the cocktail party at the Inn where greetings were exchanged and then the banquet in the splendor of the new Alumni Hall. Jim McFate presided as master of the foodstuffs in a manner befitting a Twenty-Niner and the Innkeeper that he is Four thousand persons from all points of New Hampshire descended upon the Leverone Field House to participate in its dedication and to hear the spine-tingling Navy Band. The unique structure provided an exciting setting for this rip-roaring concert Everybody was thrilled. It was a memorable experience which augurs well for the future Make no mistake about it, wonderful things are happening at Dartmouth. Imaginations are being challenged on every hand We topped off Friday night with a most enjoyable get-together at the home of John and Chris. It was here that Eddie whispered in Bill s ear that his duties as Class Agent were more strenuous than a Treasurer can take - that is, if 1929 is to stay in first place in the Green Derby. When it dawned on Bill that he would have to appoint an interim treasurer, he happily resolved to tap Fredie Ingram for the job. Another interim appointment made by our harassed chairman is Trunkie Brittan as Reunion Chairman. Bill's masterful snow-job on Trunkie was a classic. Needless to say, Trunkie accepted. In view of the calibre of these appointments, we daresay that the Executive Committee will unanimously ratify and approve Bill's action. Trunkie is a worthy successor to Larry Lougee who had to resign regretfully under the pressure of personal affairs. The Class Officers were up early Saturday to attend meetings and panel discussions. Our Duke was a panel member for the Newsletter Editors - a recognition which is richly deserved. John Dickey made a stirring speech at the stag luncheon in Alumni Hall. Dartmouth's baseball team beat Navy with a home run in the 10th inning to add to the glow of our activities. In the evening, we were treated to a showing of colored movies of the America Cup races under the personal supervision of Emil Mosbacher '43, the Weatherly's doughty skipper. We broke camp Sunday to wend our separate ways, mindful of the privilege and responsibility which are ours to share in the common purpose of all alumni to help make the new Dartmouth ever greater.
