News seems to be a little sparse this month, but we assume that this is due to the fact that you are all busy making arrangements for 30's 30th. A note from Harry Condon indicates that the returns from his preliminary mailing are coming in fine - with many fellows who did not get back to earlier reunions planning to take in the 30th. Have you made your plans?

Our class politicos seem to have been the only ones of the Class to make the headlines this month. For instance we have a variety of clippings showing Nelson Rockefeller doing all sorts of things as required by his position as governor: presenting awards at a meeting of the Osteopathic Society of New York, appearing on a TV program with Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, talking on the Citizens Union "Searchlight" program, and finally, pinning on an "Association of Towns" badge before addressing a convention of that organization. These must have been but a few of his activities during the month.

Meade Alcorn's activities seem to be stepping up with the approach of the Republican National Convention. He has been entertaining his successor, Thruston B. Morton,National Chairman. Meade is Connecticut'snational committeeman, and is expected tohead his State's delegation to the Convention. "The New York Times" credits himwith being a member of "an inside groupthat is conducting political strategy for VicePresident Nixon."

Another member of the same group is reported to be Fred Scribner, who is appearingregularly on behalf of the Treasury Department before the Public and CongressionalCommittees. His latest appearance before theWays and Means Committee was to seek astiffer treatment of gains made from the saleof fixed assets.

Congratulations to Glenn Poorman, recently made Senior Vice President - Supplyfor Esso Export Corp., international marketing affiliate of Standard Oil Company ofNew Jersey.

Sam Stayman continues on in the field of bridge, most recently as a teacher at a Bridgeschool being conducted by Abraham andStrauss.

In Great Barrington, Mass., the National Mahaiwe Bank has a new vice president and cashier - John Coppock, who moves there after eight years as loan officer of the First National Bank of Attleboro, Mass.

Dr. Merit White was featured in February at a colloquium run by Northwestern University. He spoke on the subject, "Propa- gation of One-dimensional Stress or Strain Waves in Non-linear Media." How's that for a topic at your next cocktail party? Merit is head of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, but right now, in addition, is running for the school board of his native Whately, Mass. His platform is based on giving precedence to basic courses.

to A note from Wally Blakey says: "My brother-in-law, Bob Barker, was in Hanover for Freshman Fathers' weekend and said he saw several classmates including Vic Borella and Fred Bowes. I have since talked with BudFrench who said he was also there that weekend but not for the same reason. One or the other said there are fourteen '30 sons in the freshman class."

And now don't forget Reunion!
