Another month must have dissolved into the limbo because the calendar says it's time to get back to work at the beat-up portable again.
Leading the parade are a pair of marriages. The first features the wedding of RogerTenney and Miss Nancy Dickinson of Lake Geneva, Wise. Nancy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She works as a speech correctionist in the Rockford, Ill., public schools. Rog is owner of Vanguard Designs, manufacturers of modern furniture, also of Rockford. The knot was tied on December 28 last. Thanks for the clipping and a nice letter goes to Bill Knight '08.
George Michalek and Miss Joanna Flumerfelt of Philadelphia, Pa., were married in New York on December 10. She is a graduate of Bucknell University and Pennsylvania School of Social Work in Philadelphia. She was employed at N.W. Ayer Co., in Philadelphia, with whom George was also connected before he went with Cuban-American Sugar Co. They are making their home in Havana.
James John Nicholson and Miss Margaret Louise Cullen announced early in January. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and did graduate study at the Sorbonne in Paris, now teaching French in the Fairfield, Conn., school system. J.J. got his law degree at St. John's University School of Law, Brooklyn. From Stan and Alice Alger comes the word that Susan Deirdre joined them on November 26 last. Sorry we didn't get it in till now. These birth announcements seem to get lost under the corners of things sometimes.
Jere Poole joined the "Gentlemen of the Sea" organization of the Pilots Association for the Bay and River Delaware. He will serve four years apprenticeship for piloting. If we read the clipping right, Jere is in the contracting business.
Pete Foster has been transferred to West Hartford, as commercial manager there for the Southern N.E. Tel. The Fosters will move from Wallingford where he was manager of the business office. Popping right in behind Pete is Jim Johnson who is moving over from Danbury to take over where Pete left of£ in Wallingford. Russ Carlson has been named assistant treasurer of the Onondaga Savings Bank of Syracuse, N.Y.
We heard of Sonny Drury, one of '48's charming young men about the world, via a peddler who came through the office the other day. Seems that "Rem" (Sonny's new monicker) was in Pittsburgh between a trip to South America and another to the Far East. Sure is hard keepin' up with that man.
Last week, while in the East we stopped in at the D Club in New York and ran into JoeMar pie, who is promoting sales for Jaguar in New York. Also chatted with Jim Schaefer who promised to take notes for a change and send some New York class news in for the next column. Missed a tea (?) dance at the Club which could have netted a bit more for this. On the way home, had time to hop off the plane at Cleveland and find out that Boz Kirkpatrick is still interning in surgery there. Nancy says the same every-other-night routine prevails as it has for lo these many years. Hope we'll find you two back in circulation soon.
By the time you feast your eyes on our offering for this month, Jimmy and I should be in Mexico City trying out the limited Spanish we get from TV and paper-bound books. We trust that our return will be greeted by lots of notes and letters from you all, so we can put the next column together a little easier. See you ma- nana, affecionados.
