A busy month for the Hartford group ended with the annual dinner at Les Shaw's on October 31, the night before the Yale-Dartmouth game. The sixty-odd members enjoyed the speakers, Ross McKenney and Elmer Lampe. Movies of the Penn game completed a successful evening.

The Club has published for the first time in its history a news bulletin which will be known as Smoke Signals from now on. We hope that this will help to keep all members up on Club activities and bring in more active members than ever before. Harry Bush '44 is again serving as membership chairman and our role of members (dues-paying) is growing larger as our program is enlarged to interest more people. Many of the Club have signed up to participate in the blood-donor program which was started last year. Several of the men who showed up last year are again giving, with the knowledge that this is a fine project in which we can help the Red Cross and the Club as well. Bill Davis '50 is in charge of the program this year.

Charlie Rice, Culver Modisette, Don Crowther and the writer represented the College at the second annual college night program at William Hall High on October 29. These affairs give us a chance to talk with many prospective students and get a line on the thinking of the boys who, in some cases, will some day attend Dartmouth. The Club is making every effort to cover this area, with the publication From Hanover being sent to most of the schools around and in Hartford.
