Here are a few bits of news that I didn't have room for last month because of the summer's accumulation. Ed Commins is in the Installment Loan Dept. of the First National Bank of Arizona in Phoenix. Jim Grant is a YMCA Secretary in Glendale, Calif. JohnShannon is entered in N. Y. University of Medicine. Bob Hanson is working in Saginaw, Mich. Jim Montgomery is with the Manz Corp. in Chicago. Scott Parrot is an Advertising Representative with Fairchild Publications in Boston. Dave Sawyer is with McGrawHill Publishing Co. in N.Y.C. Jack T. Ahearn is working for Stone & Webster Eng. Co. in Milwaukee as a Civil Engineer. Jim Eckels is District Sales Engineer for a San Francisco firm. John Jennings is with R. H. Stearns in Boston. Ed Kohn represents the Home Insurance Co. in N.Y.C. Lloyd Nintzel is an Accountant with Haskins & Sells in N.Y.C. ArtO'Donnell is the same with the firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. also in New York. Bob Paulson is a Staff Engineer at Thayer School.

Gene Wilkin is in Providence with the Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. Lew Steenken is a salesman for Dictaphone Corp. in Hartford. Fred Berthold has returned to Hanover as Instructor in Religion. Dr. Hal Habein is also in Hanover at Mary Hitchcock. HarrisHinckley is studying medicine at Portland, Me. Spence Johnson has moved to Rochester. Spence was with Aetna the last I knew. JohnMcNamara is at Harvard Law. Tom Murray is doing advertising research with Warwick.& Legler Inc. in New York. Bill Swartzbaugh is Asst. Prof. & Director of Religious Activities of Denison Univ. at Granville, Ohio. JimKnowles has just formed a law partnership with one of those Harvard boys at Clarksburg, W. Va. Austin Wason has also gone into business for himself. He purchased the stock of the Wason-Mac-Donald Co., a dairy in Haverhill, Mass.

Recent visitors to the Hanover Inn included Bob Cate, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bontecou, Mr.and Mrs. Bob Aldom, and George French.

Lou Mills was appointed District Manager with Equitable Life in Orange and Dutchess Counties of N. Y. State on September 1. He is also president of the Middleton Young Republican Club and gave the welcoming address at the annual N. Y. State Young Republican Convention last Spring. Dick Conklin recently purchased the Smith Brothers store, the oldest mens' clothing and furnishing store in Lewistown, Pa. Moe Frye passed the Massachusetts Bar Exams. Bob Heath is in France to complete his studies at the University of Strasbourg. He plans to return to the U. S. late in 1950.

ENGAGEMENTS: Roger Brown and Barbara Schulz of Manchester, N. H. and Colby Junior. Sidney French and Barbara Van Winkle of Smith and Maplewood, N. J. Sid is with Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane in Grand Rapids. Dick Owen and Margery White of Lawrence Park, Bronxville, and a junior at Wellesley. Dick is a senior at Harvard Law School. Simon Nielsen and Betty Jane Smith of Hillsdale School, Bradford Junior College, University of Cincinnati, Syracuse University and Covington, Ky.

WEDDINGS: Pete Heneage and Jacqueline Pressey on Sept. 10 in St. Thomas Church in Hanover. Pete is a graduate student at University of New Hampshire. His bride is the daughter of Prof. Benfield Pressey of the Dartmouth English Department. Paula Ellis of Park Ridge, N. J. and the University of lowa and Bob Shaw early in September. Bob is an instructor in the theater department of Smith College. Gene Wilkin and Anita Drake of Jamaica Plain in September. After a trip through Canada, they will reside in Warwick Neck, R. I.

Elliot Goodman and his wife, Norma, have just returned from a 12-month honeymoon in Europe and Africa. Among their pleasant memories is a dinner as the guests of Aly and Rita while they were on the Riviera. This fall Elliot is going to study for his Ph.D. in Psychology at Columbia.

BLESSED EVENTS: A daughter, Margaret Lynn, was born July 8 in Detroit to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Andrew. Dr. and Mrs. Donald P.Cole Jr. announce the birth of their second son, Douglas William, at Mary Hitchcock on September 6. Both Dr. Cole and his father are Dartmouth graduates. Dr. Cole is a resident physician at Hitchcock Clinic and his father is Director of Public Relations at Clark University.
