Once again that time of year has rolled around where the afternoons are just a bit clearer and cooler, the leaves become multicolored and fall, and colleges all over the country open their doors once again to welcome back their undergraduates. In general the year 1948 is pretty much like any other year, but for the Class of 1946 it has particular significance. This is the first peace time year that a majority of the our class are free from ivy covered walls and making their way upon what is to be their road of life. Let's look in on what some of them are doing.
Engagements and marriages still seem to be holding down the number.one news spot, so here's some of the latest developments along this line: Paul Foley was married to Barbara McCormack last July. The Foleys are now living at 98 Winter St. in Woonsocket, R. I.....Bob Williams became engaged to Ellen Douglas this summer. Bob is on the staff of the Providence Evening Bulle-tin and is planning on a December wedding. .... Horace MacPhail Macartney and Mary Jane Baker were married in Manhasset, L.I., this September Another recent engagement was that of Joe Masters and Sylvia Wald. .... Deane Freeman and Joan Cone took their vows in Batavia, N. Y., on Sept. 25.... Fred Wightman was married to Mary Frances Thompson in Atlanta, Ga The third Phi Delt from our class to announce his engagement in the past couple of months was RenoldThompson. His fiancee is the very lovely Shirley Anne Sprague of Shaker Heights, Ohio. The last wedding announcement we have for this issue is that of Watty Baker and Elizabeth Sellers. Wally is now a senior at the Western Reserve University Law School Along these same lines we might add that Davidson Williams Case, Class of '70, was born to Bob if Mary Case on September 12.
From the Dartmouth's In Town Again board in the Hanover Inn we note that the following have been in town: Mr. and Mrs.Tom Gillaugh, Edwin Blatt, Rog Lockhead,Warren Kealey, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Osberg, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kessler.
Hal Bowman stopped off in New York for a few weeks before flying down to Venezuela where he'll work with the Mene Grande Oil Company Bernard Wexler is now a graduate student out at the University of California Walt Snickenberger is working for the American Sugar Refinery Cos. Walt is now in New York, but will be going to Baltimore soon From several sources we hear that Reg Pierce is looking for a good job, so he can settle down and get married. With a girl like Nancy Crawford we can all understand that Charlie Caswell is now a practicing dentist in Poughkeepsie, N. Y Eugene Fisher is with General Electric in Fitchburg Bill DeStefano and Paul Donovan are both teachers, Bill in Newton Center, Mass., and Paul in Bergenfield, N. J BobFerris is a Naval Officer and is studying at the Naval Supply Corps School at Bayonne, N. J. .. .. Tom Charles is an accountant with E. I. duPont de Nemours & Co.... Jud Hannigan is working with the International Paper Company at Palmer, N. Y Wilbur Pillsbury is now Treasurer at the Rutland Junior College Jim Pulliam is back at school at Harvard .... and George Morgan is teaching history out there at the Santa Barbara School, Carpinteria, California.
