Lieutenant Millard Aubey USNR has been promoted from lieutenant (j.g.) to lieutenant (s.g.) at an undisclosed place in the South Pacific. His wife and son reside with Israel Aubey and Mrs. Aubey at 196 Salem End Road.

Fred Bennis and his sister have again gone into winter quarters at the beautiful Laguna Hotel, Laguna Beach, California.

Chief Justice Sherman Moulton directed the state auditor of accounts to make payment of $22,603 to lawyers who recovered from the Federal Government the $90,000 that Vermont expended during the war of 1812. This payment had been awarded by the State Supreme Court of Vermont.

The Secretary wishes the genial Chief Justice would exert his legal skill to award payment of some unpaid bills to the well-known firm of Smith and Patey of our College days.

Seth Pope has gone in for histrionic performance—he recently took the part of the old grandpa (probably foxy) in a local Old Time Revue.

Your Secretary received notice of his election as a member of the Executive Committee of the General Association of Dartmouth Alumni. No emoluments as yet received or duties assigned; he is "standing by," awaiting further information.

"Bill" Hewes reports great progress on the new Alaska Highway—season now about ended with freeze-up.

The Hannah and Lemuel Pope who married brother and sister, and from whom Franklin D. Roosevelt and General Mac Arthur are descended, were the sister and brother of our Seth Pope's great-great-great-grandfather, Seth Pope, who died in 1744, and who lies buried in the Sandwich old Pond Cemetery.

Jphn Eckstorm has written a very appreciative letter to the Secretary about his picture and that of his two grandsons appearing in the August ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Who will volunteer to send the Secretary another picture for the '98 column? Do not be too modest.

Richard Patey has won his "flying wings" in the Air Corps.

Miss Barbara Patey, Mt. Holyoke College '42, was married to Mr. Eben B. Brown, Massachusetts State College graduate, on October 17. The young couple plan to live on a farm in Woodstock, Vermont. The Secretary is planning on a visit to them and expects to feed the chickens.

Secretary and Treasurer, 57 Grove Hill Ave., Newtonville, Mass.
