THE YEAR 1939 has ended in fine style for the Dartmouth Club of Cleveland. The annual Christmas party for prospective Dartmouth students was held on Saturday, December 30. Chairman Jack Gilchrist '35 arranged an exceptionally fine. program and a crowd of well over one hundred persons turned out to enjoy it. Mr. L. B. Davenport, President of the Cleveland Bar Association and the father of two Dartmouth students, gave an inspiring talk on what Dartmouth can mean to the fathers of her undergraduates. Elmer Browne '40 gave the annual undergraduate report and Fletcher R. Andrews '16 explained the intricacies of the selective system to the applicants and their fathers. After these talks movies of the 1939 Yale game and color movies of Carnival were shown and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

It was a great pleasure to see at this meeting the familiar faces of many men who have moved away from Cleveland but had returned for the holidays. Among these were Hal Payne and Bob Veres both of '33, Mike Watkins '34 who was back from Chicago for a few days and Mort Crowell Jr. '39 who came all the way from San Francisco. We were also glad to welcome many of the undergraduates home from college for their Christmas vacation.

This past year has been a good one for our club. However, we hope to do even bigger and better things during 1940. We would like to take this occasion to extend our good wishes to all Dartmouth men. We will be delighted to have you visit us at any time.
