The first meeting of the executive committee since graduation was held in New York December 22. Bob Booth, treasurer, took time off from his law classes, Pete Callaway came over from the fancy headquaraters of Conde Nast, Dean Wiggin and Eddie Jeremiah both came down from Boston, and Nelse Rockefeller extended hospitality to the committee, which forthwith adjourned to an executive session over a luncheon table. The real spirit behind the whole thing was Barnacle Bill the class agent, who came down from Bristol to propound the problems of the Alumni Fund.
Most of the deliberations of the committee, after the complex problems of the menu had been solved, were devoted to the Fund. Among other questions discussed, however, was the disposition of class funds until the occasion arose for spending them, and it was voted that $1200 of these be placed in the Dartmouth Savings Bank if appropriate interest could be obtained, and if not, in some other savings bank at the discretion of the treasurer. A treasurer's report is being included in the imminent class report.
It was also voted that no official third-year reunion be planned in Hanover this June, following the report of the secretarychairman that some recent classes had been finding these third-year reunions pointless and unnecessary. It was the sense of the meeting that such Thirtymen as should find themselves in Hanover in June could make impromptu arrangements for all appropriate functions and celebrations.
Carl Haffenreffer presented the report of the class agent for the past year, with recommendations of policy. The rest of the meeting was devoted to discussion of the Alumni Fund campaign in the class, results of which will become evident as the spring progresses. The members of the executive committee expressed a desire to participate personally in the campaign and assumed responsibility for assisting in finding other effective assistants for recommendation to the class agent.
Communications were received from two absentee members, Herm Schneebeli and John French, with regard to the questions under discussion.
