The Secretary was in Milford, Mass., recently, and had a pleasant interview with Billy Williams. He told me of a very thrilling and narrow escape he had while hunting in the Maine woods this fall. A Maine lake had frozen over during an unexpectedly cold night, and, in attempting to travel across in a motor launch by breaking the ice, a large hole was made in the bow of the boat while some distance from shore, and a floundering nearly occurred with all on board.
