The biggest picnic ever given by the club took place on Saturday, June 30. Golf was played in the morning at the Country Club, but the real set-up was held at the Alexander Estate in the afternoon and evening. Events included tennis and horseshoe pitching for the aged, baseball, oratory, and a drinking contest in which age played no part. In order to make the contests more interesting, the members found themselves on either the "June" teams captained by Biff Thompson, or the "Leb" teams captained by Red Keeler.

After the ball game when thirst was running high, a grand exodus was made into the valley where two of the old-fashioned kegs were ready to quench the famished members and prime the orators, Fletch Andrews of the "Junes" and Al Goss of the "Lebs," for the bull-throwing struggle, the result of which was to decide whether the "Junes" or the "Lebs" were the best all-around athletes. The primer worked to good advantage; and, after a long and hard-fought struggle, Al Goss emerged the victor—not so much because he gave the best speech, but because his enunciation was better.

Much of the success of this party was due to the efforts of Gus Fuller, Roy Wessellman, and Ben Werntz, not only because of the good program, but also because of the fine attendance. Approximately seventy members and undergraduates were present.

GOLF PARTY A golf party was held at the Westwood Country Club on Friday, August 31. Thirty members played golf and remained for the dinner following.

Hank Haserot surprised the gallery with his fine golf. Chet Neweomb's magic clubs were not functioning this day, and several of the clouds of dust which blew across the fairways were caused by Chet digging his ball out of the rough.

Hal Doty was the host for this party, and Hal brought forth the "makings" for an enjoyable evening.

PREP SCHOOL LUNCHEON A luncheon was held at the Hotel Statler on Saturday, September 8. The boys entering Dartmouth this fall, together with their fathers, were our guests. Cleveland is sending a fine delegation, and Mike Watkins deserves much credit for his efforts as chairman of the prep school committee.

The boys were given some good advice on what not to do at Hanover by Hank Haserot, who was ably qualified to talk on this subject.

FOOTBALL Club members are again showing signs of fall, and are itching for the football season to get under way. Radio and telegraphic reports of the important games will again be heard, and plans are being made to attend the Northwestern game in a body.
